Dark walls-take a chance!

a modern *hey Barbs* take on an étagère

An étagère is a piece of light furniture which was extensively made in France during the latter part of the 18th century. It consists of a series of stages or shelves for the reception of ornaments or other small articles.

I like to keep it all on one level, and mix up small and large objects with little pops of color.

Mix it up!

Another great example of mixing it up! romantic white tufted chair, lucite telephone table, and a pop of color with the vintage rotary phone. LOVE it!

Every Barbie needs a shoe closet...

I love the idea of putting wallpaper on the ceiling and keeping the walls crisp and white. The shoe closet is a great way to store shoes so that they are out of the way, but still keep it presentational--you didn't spend all that money on pretty shoes just to hide them, did you?!

Old Hollywood glamour in the bathroom

This bathroom and the kitchen in the previous post are so gorgeous, and I love the mix of old fixtures with girly pink curtains and a chandelier. This look is to die for.

This kitchen is fierce.

Stage it!

If you find yourself with an eyesore in your home such as an exposed radiator, try this adorable solution! A cute little console or end table carefully staged with a few decorative items will ensure nobody notices!
This home owner had a window above their heater so they were able to add a beautiful window treatment, but even if you don't have a window, you can always fake it! Hang a curtain rod where a window SHOULD be, and keep them closed, giving the illusion of a window being there!

Mix it up!

Mixing design styles helps keep things looking interesting. I love this mix of industrial looking metal desk and filing cabinet with a more modern artsy swivel chair. Posting inspirational photos above the desk doubles as artwork for the room as a whole.
