Friend inspiration: Andriana; Children's clothing designer and founder of Hank & Jojo, Brooklyn, NY

Andriana aka Andy and I have been best friends since high school, and I have always admired her taste-- in everything! Always at the cutting edge of style, Andy is what I would call a trend forecaster. I recently visited her at her Brooklyn apartment, and snapped a few photos of her stunning decor!
This sofa is absolutely stunning. Even though the style is somewhat classic and romantic, the color is neutral and the fabric is linen, thereby lending itself easily to any decor style. I love how Andy mixed an oriental rug with a modern class coffee table. I also love the light blue walls with the purple curtains. A daring combination in theory, but when you see it here, it looks meant to be!

Andy and her husband decided on a library inspired bookshelf, and created visual interest by color blocking their books!

This industrial style wood and metal stool makes a stylish end table, and the shiny chrome lamp sits atop two coffee table books Andy acquired while traveling.

The photo and clock placement above the flat screen tv serves a few purposes: it takes full advantage of the wall space, leading your eye upward, but also makes it more of a gallery wall,  preventing the television from being the main focal point. The antique credenza is stunning, as is the terrarium in the giant apothecary jar. I love bringing elements of nature indoors!

Client: Emily; Stylist, Hollywood, CA

Emily is an up-and-coming fashion stylist in LA who is living on a budget. She spends most of her money on designer clothes and accessories, but wanted her home to look as chic as her outfits--on a budget. That's where I come in!

Emily had a few statement lamps and gorgeous fashion coffee books and a collection of unique paintings, but the rest was up to me to create a cozy, yet stylish living space that reflected Emily's personal style, while staying within her budget.
This is her studio apartment BEFORE

The reverse wall, entry table, and door to the kitchen.

This is Emily's living room/sitting area after we moved in her furniture-a good start, but it needs some accessories!

Bar Cart
The frames were $2 from Goodwill, and I took the Paris pictures out of an old desk calender Emily was going to throw away!
We added a picture wall using two floating shelves from IKEA

The final product! Now Emily's apartment is as chic and stylish as she is!
What we did: Gorgeous Missoni inspired rug from Home Goods, Ikea chair and chaise lounge, Anthropologie end table, vintage modern coffee table to hold back issues of Vogue, Jonathan Adler hexagon tray, silver convex drum table from Home Goods, rattan pouf and lambskin rug from Ikea, white linen curtains from Pottery Barn.

This is a photo Emily took of me, sitting in her new living space!

My LA apartment

This had been my dream sofa for years, until I finally got it!

The coffee table is vintage, solid hard wood, and I placed a light modern tray on it to cut some of the heaviness. The tree table to the left of the sofa is from Anthropologie, and is one I coveted for 3 years before purchasing it-ON SALE!! The little blue Fu Dog statue is standing guard!

How comfy does this look!? I wanted my bed to look like a mound of whipped cream-I think I achieved it!

I love the look of a convex drum table with a vignette on it. Since it isn't necessarily sturdy enough to place a drink on, this stack of books with a gorgeous seashell cluster is perfect, and adds an element of nature.

Bookshelves are a great opportunity to play with color grouping!

I turned my old nightstand into a bar cart of sorts, by staging antique beer and cocktail glasses on the bottom shelf. You could also place a cute tray on top and add bottles of liquor or San Pellegrino for a pop of green!

When I moved upstairs to another apartment in my same building, I got to choose a different layout for my furniture. I didn't replace anything, but by adding this gorgeous rug, an armchair, and the faux fur throw blanket, it really changed up the look for winter!

I bought this to hold cupcakes for a friends bridal shower luncheon, but now it holds fresh fruit from the market!

I love love LOVE my breakfast nook! This settee was custom made and has gorgeous silver nailhead trim. The tray on the table is antiqued mirror. Gorgeous!
